The Women Empowerment Cell of the institution is proactive in empowering girl students and women faculty. The Cell’s objectives are to enhance understanding of issues concerning to women and to make the college campus a safe place for women students and women faculty as a whole. Underlying motto of the cell is to emancipate women, promoting gender equality, enlightening legally valid rights as well as understanding their role and liabilities. It also provides an opportunity for women to share their experiences and opinions related to their status in the society and to motivate them to improve and empower themselves. Women empowerment cell conducts guest lectures, seminars, conferences, awareness programs and other welfare activities to educate them in respect of their rights and duties. This cell creates a feel in women that the college campus is a secure place and second home to them. The cell functions rigorously to look after the security arrangements in the campus and to enhance their status in the society and to face challenges with great courage.
The endeavors of this cell are to promote a culture of respect and to counter gender discrimination, and to create a friendly environment for female gender to share their problems. It helps women students understand their strength, potentiality and to develop the self-confidence in building their self-identity, as in the words of Hillary Clinton “Women are the largest untapped reservoir of talent in the world”, so that they may become self-reliant and resource persons and eventually contribute their best for the welfare of the society.This cell has been and remain putting endeavors to deliver lectures on contemporary laws which specifically deal with women who are in troublesome situation like ‘Protection of Women from Domestic violence, Human Rights International Treaties such as the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women, governments have a legal obligation to protect women from violence, to promote the human rights of all women and to ensure their economic, legal, social and political empowerment. Furthermore, bringing awareness on “Constitutional safeguards” such as Right to dignity and decency, right to get freedom from sexual harassment at workplace, right against dowry, right to free legal aid, right of private defense and utilization of “Disha App” to seek instant police rescue in dire consequences.
